The January 11, 2025, meeting was held at the Watershed District Office at 9:30 a.m. Present: President Brian Weist, Secretary Pat Ryan, Treasurer Anita Hagen, Jeff Gertgen, Mark Streed, Dean Volk, Brian Knoke and Tom Hayden. Via Zoom: Gordy Behm and Bob Meyerson. Absent: Ben Anderson, Tim Groshens, and Darvin Hauptli.
Motion made, seconded, and carried to approve the November 16, 2024, minutes as amended.
Motion made, seconded, and carried to approve the December Financial Report as presented with a checking balance of $3,341.26, savings balance of $1,052.47 and money market balance of $89,540.93.Total funds $93,934.66.
Motion made, seconded, and carried to move the savings balance of $1,052.47 to the Money Market account.
There is $61, 457.61 in the Watershed Fund.Weed Treatment – Estimated cost from PLM is $41,000. A signed contract for 2025 is due to PLM by February 15, 2025. Costs were $600/gallon for liquid versus $85/pound for granular in 2024. Plan to change to liquid. Motion made, seconded, and carried to approve the contract amount.
After discussion on a location for lake residents to dispose of weeds, Darvin Hauptli agreed to check with the City of Atwater regarding possible disposal at their site.
Discussion centered on the newsletter publication. Anita reported that a lake resident is interested in working on the publication process. Motion made, seconded, and carried to proceed with the
Discussion centered on the nano bubbler project. A one-year lease has been proposed with DLARA and the Watershed District sharing costs. DLARA would contribute $300,000 and the Watershed District would contribute $100,000. There would be no additional costs to the Watershed residents. An ozone generator would cost an additional $94,000. Several items such as final approval from the Watershed District, County approval, and DNR permits would need to be finalized first.
Dues structure was discussed with board agreeing to keep the dues at $25 per year, no lifetime memberships. The Board agreed that anyone paying over $25 would be considered a “Diamond” contributor and that list would be published in the August Newsletter.
Tom, Dean, and Mark will arrange the lake cleanup before ice out, information will be put on the
West Central Sanitation started their contract on January 3
rd with garbage pick-up at the east and west public access.
The next DLARA Board meeting will be April 26, 2025, at the Watershed District Office at 9:30 a.m, in person and via Zoom.
